Bruno Barbey

Bruno Barbey (b. 1941) is a Frenchman born in Morocco, studied photography and graphic arts at the École des Arts et Métiers in Vevey, Switzerland. He photographed The Italians (1963), with the aim of capturing the spirit of a nation. In the 1960s, he was commissioned to report from European and African countries. In 1968, he documented the political unrest and student riots in Paris, published in Mai 68 (1998). A decade later, he photographed Poland at a turning point in its history, published in Poland (1982). His new monograph Passages is out now.
