Magnum Square Prints
  • Are prints hand signed?

    All Magnum Square Prints are signed or estate-stamped on an archival label (to ensure quality and preservation) that is affixed to the back of the print, and includes each image’s accompanying text. All prints are authentic.

  • Are they signed on the front or back?

    All Magnum Square Prints are signed or estate-stamped on an archival label (to ensure quality and preservation) that is affixed to the back of the print, and includes each image’s accompanying text.

  • What does museum quality mean?

    All prints are archival quality and are approved by the photographer. We work closely with photographers and estates to ensure that all editions are presented according to their intentions. To be precise, these are digital C-Prints on Fuji Crystal Archive Matte paper.

    We aim to provide prints of the highest standard that maintain their beauty and value for years to come. Magnum Square Prints are printed on Fuji Crystal archive paper, which minimizes fading. The accompanying text labels as well as all supporting materials are archival, meaning that they are acid-free and will not damage the print or affect its longevity. The usual precautions should be taken to retain a photograph’s depth of tone and contrast, and we recommend that a photograph should not be hung in direct, continuous sunlight.

  • What is an estate stamp?

    An estate stamp is used to signify authentication and is issued by the estate of the photographer (photographers who are no longer alive are represented by their estates). All estate stamps are applied individually by hand.

  • How large are the prints?

    For Magnum Square Prints, the “square” paper size is 6 x 6 in (15.24 x 15.24 cm); image size is 5.5 in (14 cm) on the longest side. Images will not be cropped but will instead have white borders, just like you see them on the Magnum website (http://shop.magnumphotos.com).

  • What’s the edition size?

    The edition is not limited based on quantity, but limited based on time. Magnum Square Prints from this sale are only available for purchase from October 28, 2019, at 8 a.m. EST until November 1, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. EST.

  • Are black and white images printed as silver gelatin prints?

    No. All Magnum Square Prints are digital C-Prints.

  • Can the photographer add a personalized note to the print?

    Unfortunately, we are not able to fulfill custom requests.

  • Will my photographs look exactly as they do online?

    The color of your print may differ from the color reproduction of any given computer screen as all computers are calibrated differently. Computers are also lit from behind, which can affect the level of brightness of an image.

  • When will my order ship?

    The Magnum Shop promises to ship your Magnum Square Print(s) as quickly as logistically possible. At the end of the sale, prints will be made and signed by our photographers around the world, or stamped by our estates. Because of this, we cannot offer precise shipping dates. We will begin to fulfill orders after we receive the prints from the photographers or estates.

    No prints will be shipped later than December 18, 2019.

  • When will I receive my Square Print(s)?

    Once your Square Print(s) ship, we will send a shipping notification to you with a tracking number. We will use the email that was used to place the order. Shipping time will depend on where you live. Please note, customs vary country-to-country, and can delay your shipment. For additional information on customs, please consult customs information.

  • What material is used for frames?

    We use hand-crafted black or white wooden frames (w: 3/4" h: 7/8"). Magnum Square Prints are framed with a white, archival and made-to-measure mat. The prints will then be sealed using archival paper backing. They are wired, ready for hanging with wall-friendly footers. Please note, the photographer’s signature or estate stamp will be hidden by the framing.

    All frames include UV plexiglass, which comes with ~99% UV protection. All products used in framing are archival quality: Japanese hinging tape, archival text labels and backing papers.

  • What does custom framing mean?

    Custom frames are handcrafted by expert framers who give them a contemporary feel. Due to material and hand finishing, all custom frames are unique, and will never look exactly the same.

  • Will the signature in a frame be visible?

    A photographer’s signature or the estate stamp will be hidden by the framing.

  • How long does it take for frames to be made?

    Frames will be made as soon as signed prints are received from respective photographers and stamped prints from respective estates. Everything will be shipped out as soon as possible. All orders will ship no later than December 18, 2019.

  • How long will it take for me to get my order?

    Magnum Square Prints require extra time to ship. At the end of the sale, prints will be made and signed by photographers around the world, or stamped by estates. Only then are we able to begin to fulfil orders. All orders will be shipped as soon as possible, but none will be shipped later than December 18, 2019.



    For non-Square Print Magnum Shop orders:

    We usually ship orders at least three times a week. Some items may require a few extra days before they can be shipped. Please allow an extra 2 weeks for framed contact sheet prints and framed posters.

  • I ordered Square Prints with other Magnum Shop items. Will they ship together?

    No! All Magnum Square Print orders ship separately from other items purchased from the Magnum Shop. All Magnum Square Prints will ship no later than December 18, 2019.. If you have ordered other Magnum Shop items, together with your Magnum Square Prints, we will treat them as separate orders and ship them separately. We will ship the other items out as quickly as possible. You will receive an email with a tracking number as soon as each shipment is ready.

  • Do you ship to my country?

    Yes!

  • Which shipping methods do you offer in the US?

    All orders that ship within the US will ship with USPS Priority Mail. We also offer USPS Media Mail, within the US, for book orders. Unfortunately, USPS Media Mail is not available for international locations.

  • Which shipping methods do you offer to countries outside of the US?

    Shop orders that are sent from the U.S (excluding Square Prints)

    Delivery for orders in the contiguous U.S. depends on the shipping method selected. Please note the delivery times provided are always according to when an order is shipped, and not when an order is made.

    • - USPS Priority Mail (only within the U.S.)
    • - USPS Media Mail (only for books within the U.S.)
    • - USPS Priority Mail International
    • - USPS FIrst Class Package International (exclusively for orders up to $400 and up to 4lbs; not possible for every order)

    International orders sent from the U.S. typically take 3-5 weeks to arrive depending on the destination and customs processing. The tracking for international orders might not update once the package leaves the U.S., but the order is still on its way. If an order is sent via United States Postal Service, it is passed to the local courier service once it reaches its country of destination.

  • When will my order ship?

  • I can’t find a shipping rate. What do I do?

    Email shop@magnumphotos.com with a detailed description of what went wrong on our site. Please send us a screenshot if possible, in addition to the address you would like your print(s) shipped to.

  • How do I change my shipping address?

    Email shop@magnumphotos.com, but please note that we can only change a shipping address if your print has not yet shipped.

  • How long will it take for me to get my order?

    Shipping time depends on the service selected and specified when order is placed. Please note delivery times provided are always listed according to once an order is shipped, and not when an order is made.

  • My order arrived damaged. What do I do?

    If a product arrives damaged, you must keep all original packaging material for insurance purposes. Claims must be made within 7 days of receipt via email to shop@magnumphotos.com. Send us a description of the damage, and please include photos of the damaged areas if possible.

  • My order was sent back what do I do?

    Contact us at shop@magnumphotos.com and let us know why it was sent back. If your package was unclaimed or the address you provided was incorrect, a re-shipment fee may apply.

  • Can I combine orders to save on shipping?

    Please email us at shop@magnumphotos.com. This is only possible if orders have not yet shipped. Unfortunately, we are unable to combine shipment of Magnum Square Prints with other Magnum Photos merchandise at this time. Additionally, framed Magnum Square Prints ship separately from all other orders. Magnum reserves the right to split ship packages.

  • I think my package is lost.

    Check the tracking number emailed to you on your email confirmation and let us know at shop@magnumphotos.com.

  • What happens after I place my order?

    After your order is placed, you will receive a confirmation email. Please be sure to check your spam folder if you don’t see an order confirmation in your inbox. Shipping time will vary order-to-order. We will do our best to ship your order to you as fast as we can.

    For Square Prints, please consult the Square Print section.

    All products ordered that are not Magnum Square Prints will be shipped separately. Additionally, framed Magnum Square Prints ship separately from all other orders. Magnum reserves the right to split ship packages.

  • How do I cancel an order?

    Please email us at shop@magnumphotos.com.

  • I have placed an order and would like to change the content of the order.

    Unfortunately we cannot change the content of an order. We can only cancel orders and issue new ones.

  • I am having difficulties placing my order. What can I do?

    Please email shop@magnumphotos.com with a detailed description of the difficulties you encountered. Please include a screenshot if possible, as well as the address you would like your item shipped to. If you include a phone number, or call us at our New York office, we can also take your order by phone.

  • Do I own the rights to the work I purchase?

    Rights concerning the work of the photographer remains the bearer of the rights of author of his or her work. The rights of representation and of reproduction of the works presented on this site belong to their authors and to Magnum Photos. The authorization of Magnum photos is necessary for all exploitation of these rights. Your rights to the purchased product when it’s a photograph are therefore limited to a right to private use, excluding any right of representation and of reproduction.
