This view of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Navy Yards was taken ten days after the September 11th attacks. Through a window covered in graffiti, a subtle game of visual layers plays out. It contrasts geometrical shapes with the color and chaotic forms of the graffiti, suggesting the city will never be the same.

Canadian photographer Christopher Anderson initially gained recognition for his photographs of Believe in God, a boat carrying Haitian refugees, which sank in the Caribbean sea; a series for which he received the Robert Capa Gold Medal. Since then, he has undertaken photography projects dealing with life-changing events and charged with a strong evocative style.
