Pilots resting in open country near their Polikarpov, during the Spanish Civil War. The first fighter planes sent over by the USSR started flying above Madrid in November 1936. David 'Chim' Seymour took a very broad approach to covering the Spanish Civil War. He shot over 30 stories covering not just the conflict itself, but also reporting in depth on the major social and political issues of the time, a deep insight into the country's plight which was published across European and American magazines of the time.
