A boy plays near Lake Atitlan, in the highlands of Sierra Madre (Mexico). Night falls over the lake, and the boy’s silhouette is picked out from the cloudy landscape. With a simple wheel and stick, the boy plays an age-old game in the twilight.

David Alan Harvey discovered photography at the age of 11, purchasing a second hand Leica with his paper route money in 1956. He has shot over forty essays for National Geographic Magazine, and published two major books, Cuba and Divided Soul, based on his extensive work on the Spanish cultural migration into the Americas. He was named Magazine Photographer of the Year by the National Press Photographers Association in 1978, has exhibited at MoMA, and became a full member of Magnum in 1997. He is the founder and editor of the award-winning Burn magazine.
