Description

Moises Saman spent years documenting the Middle East in the early 2000s and returned to live and work for four years during the Arab Spring, capturing the fallout and ensuring political conflicts. In 2013 he was in Aleppo, Syria, a city that had been under rebel-control since 2012 and experienced fierce fighting and multiple evacuations of civilians. Saman documented the city, the battles and the civilians caught up in the war. Pictured here, Aleppo residents and armed rebels search for survivors among rubble after an airstrike, 2013.

As a photojournalist I am interested in searching for the positive commonalities in human spirit, to expose those intimate moments among people that reminds us of dignity and hope in the face of conflict
