Christopher Anderson

Christopher Anderson (b. 1970) started out in Canada and grew up in west Texas. He first gained recognition for his pictures in 1999 when he boarded a handmade, wooden boat with Haitian refugees trying to sail to America. His photographs of the boat sinking became a cover story for The New York Times Magazine. In 2000 the images received the Robert Capa Gold Medal. Anderson has covered conflicts in Kosovo, Lebanon, the Arab Spring, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Anderson is New York Magazine’s first ever Photographer-in-Residence and the author of the monographs: Nonfiction (2003), CAPITOLIO (2009), and SON (2013).
